Our world of work is crisscrossed by borders. For some, jobs are created, others are unemployed. For many, the right to stay turns into a work struggle of its own. How are work, bittersweet idleness, and the global border regime connected? This is what PROTEST PRODUCTIONS COLLECTIVE reports about in its new shorts.
Aladji Traoré tells the story of his journey through both desert and sea to get from Sokodé in Togo to Vienna. Traumatic and life-threatening for those whose safe passage is blocked by closed borders. The documentary short ‘Best practices to stop deportations’ focuses on the struggles within the borders of Europe and shows practical experiences of diverse and sometimes also successful resistance against deportation. With ‘Shoes’, Hany Jaber shares a playful and poetical view on the worldwide relations of work and production that hide behind every single shoe.
Special: a promotional event for PPC Airlines at Wien Mitte train station / Wien Mitte The Mall. PPC Airlines has been operating on a voluntary basis since 2015.
