Proletarians of all countries – enjoy yourselves!

Real estate bubble, haircut, productivity growth. Economic events and connections feel inscrutable for many of us. Usually, only the so-called experts speak about it. This makes us insecure and dependent. But who would be a better expert regarding our work than ourselves? Who could develop visions and strategies for change instead of us? For example, what is considered work, what laziness – and for whom? Who determines the rules of a meritocracy?

TALK SHOW IN A HAMMOCK negotiates these questions from the perspective of migrants: hosted by ‘trash figure’ Wanda Dakyra, with her pink anime-style wig and guerrilla attitude. In a mobile manner, in an oversized hammock on Reumannplatz in the 10th district and – as part of WIENWOCHE opening – in front of Fluc in the 2nd district. Together with you, we will talk about topics such as work machinery, basic income, economic dissidence, utopia and its connection with migration, racism, and the fortress Europe. We question this meritocracy of the majority as well as the boundaries between ‘WE’ and ‘YOU’. We discuss personally and in public.

TALK SHOW IN A HAMMOCK occupies urban space and plays with prejudices, with visibility and invisibility and the prevailing social conditions. For colonial rulers, the hammock was a symbol of laziness. For the enslaved, however, it was also a place of exchange and communal organisation. We are transforming the hammock into a prototype of a social utopia – a way to create emancipatory and communitarian structures. It is a place for reflection, discourse, and longing. The BUNKER COLLECTIVE comprises the five cultural activists Tania Araujo, Maia Benashvili, Maira Caixeta, Grace Latigo, and Marissa Lôbo. Together, they deal with the topics of migration and the provincialisation of Europe, unproductivity as well as labour mechanisation.
